Meet Zoe from Undressed Tablescapes

This month, the s t e e l e team spent a morning with Zoe from Undressed Tablescapes and shared one of Zoe’s beautiful breakfast spreads in s t e e l e. HOUSE.

We spoke with Zoe about her journey with Undressed Tablescapes so far, who inspires her, and what her advice for young, emerging creatives and entrepreneurs would be.

Read our chat and explore some of the delicious behind-the-scenes moments below.

Q: What inspired you to start Undressed Tablescapes?

A: Undressed is a culmination of my two great loves – the way food looks, and the way it tastes. What started as creating food hampers & recipes to inspire my friends in lockdown has led me to specialise in table-scaping, catering, and recipe development. I eat everything, but especially love to cook vegetarian and vegan food, making the most of Mother Nature’s bounty! To me, food is about rejoicing, not restricting, and the Undressed table is designed so that everyone is nourished.

Q: Who are the women in your life that mean the most to you and why?

A: My mum is a huge source of inspiration to me. She is, and always has been a trailblazer, and the older I get the more I’ve come to appreciate just what a courageous woman she is. I recently moved from Byron Bay to Melbourne, where we’ve been able to spend a lot more time together, especially cooking, and I’ll cherish our moments in the kitchen forever.

I also have a number of very close friends – many who now live far away – who have shaped who I am, and how my life looks, in more ways than I can list here. I love and miss them dearly.

Q: The food and tablescapes you create are all so beautiful. What is it you love about food and why?

A: Thank you, that is incredibly kind. I love the notion of food bringing people together. To me, following, reading, sharing, and creating recipes is a love language – a way of nourishing yourself and others.

Q: What’s your go-to breakfast when you need all-day energy and why?

A: Often when I’m on my feet in kitchens all day, I love to be treated to someone else’s cooking! This means going out for scrambled eggs on buttery rye, or a brekkie bowl filled to the brim with greens, avocado & seeds. At home, I’ll make a smoothie with whatever fruit I have in the freezer, and potions and nut butter I have in the pantry. That way I can sip as I go – I’m ashamed to admit, but sometimes getting me to sit down and eat is no mean feat!

Q: Do you have any advice for entrepreneurs or creatives who are starting out?

A: Just like friendships and romantic relationships, the people you surround yourself with are just as important when it comes to business and creativity. I can hand on my heart say the only reason I had the confidence to start my own business was because of those incredible female friends I mentioned earlier. Without seeing their success, and without their constant encouragement Undressed would still be a pipe dream. I have them to thank for everything.
